WCBS-TV weatherman selling Wainscott home
WCBS-Channel 2 meteorologist John Bolaris is selling his five-bedroom, 4 ½-bath home in Wainscott for $2.695 million. The cedar-shingled, post-modern dwelling, located at the end of a cul-de-sac, has cathedral ceilings, formal living and dining rooms, a media room and a heated Gunite pool.
Listing agent William Wolff of the Corcoran Group says he expects a quick sale. "I can't say enough about this house. It's magnificent," he says.
Wolff says the buyer will also have the option to purchase the home furnished.
Bolaris, a Brentwood native says, "It's my dream home. Growing up as a kid, I always wanted a home on the East End. We didn't have much when I was a kid -- It was a goal to have a house like this. I worked really hard to get it."
The weatherman said he will eventually buy another house south of Montauk Highway.
Bolaris says he always knew that he wanted to work as a broadcaster for CBS and was encouraged to follow that dream by his late father. The family moved to Bohemia when he was in the eighth grade, and he graduated from Connetquot High School in 1975. In July, the Connetquot Football alum was honoree at the school district's annual golf outing to raise funds for the Touchdown Scholarship Fund.
Bolaris, who graduated from Suffolk Community College in 1980, says he is proud of his Long Island roots. "That's my home," he says.
Bolaris declined to comment on speculation that he is gearing up to return to television in Philadelphia later this year once his current contract is up with CBS in New York.
