CA names O'Malley to head its prime mainframe unit
CA Inc., the Islandia-based software giant, said Friday it has named one of its veteran executives to head its prime mainframe business unit.
The company formally known as Computer Associates named Chris O'Malley as executive vice president and general manager of the unit.
O'Malley, 45, was appointed senior vice president and general manager of the unit when it was formed last year. O'Malley joined CA in 1988, when it acquired Applied Data Research.
He has been senior vice president of sales strategy and execution and senior vice president of sales responsible for the Midwest and Canada.
In his new post, CA said O'Malley will be responsible for strategic planning and execution oversight for worldwide technology development, marketing, sales, service and customer experience for the mainframe area. CA said O'Malley will also serve on the company's executive leadership team.
CA, Long Island's fourth-largest company in terms of sales, is primarily a developer of software for mainframe computers used by banks, insurance companies, airlines and other large businesses.
CA said O'Malley will report to chief executive John Swainson.
