Pfizer hit with record $2.3B fine

Photo credit: AP | The drug maker Pfizer is expected to pay a $2.3 billion fine over its efforts to market arthritis pain medication Bextra for other off-label uses. Since this April 2005 photo, the drug has been withdrawn from the market.

Drug maker Pfizer must pay a record $2.3 billionsettlement for illegal drug promotion, the Assiociated Press reported Wednesday morning.

There were few details, but a story in the  Philadelphia Inquirer said  that Pfizer had settled a claim with the U.S. Attorney in Massachusetts.

Pfizer had no comment on the report.
