Fresh off launching his company's first Long Island location, Philly Pretzel Factory chief development officer Tom Monaghan said the next step in the marketplace is "world pretzel domination. How is that?"

The company opened its store in Bellmore earlier this month, and is now looking for up to 25 more locations, Monaghan said.

"We want to expand at that rate within the next three-to-five years," Monaghan said. "We want dozens, and we want to have a location within 10 minutes of where everyone on Long Island lives."

The aggressive plan is part of a much larger expansion strategy. The Philadelphia-based chain has 158 locations in 11 states. By 2020, it expects to have 500 franchised locations, and an international presence.

Its first store outside the United States, in Nassau, Bahamas, is scheduled to open this summer, Monaghan said.

Monahan added that the company has already has an idea of where future Long Island locations will open, but wouldn't say where.

"For competitive reasons, we aren't releasing that information yet," he said.
