The Bank Purchased the Shopping Center it has Called Home Since 2008
The deal a year in the making, the bank acquired the shopping center located at Coronado Place on NE Coronado Drive in April. While other banks around the area and the nation have become transient in nature – opening, closing and selling branches – Adams Dairy Bank has planted a stake in the ground with this significant real estate investment.
From the time it was chartered, the bank has always maintained a single location, which is conveniently accessible to its local business and personal banking customers. It relies on technology, like online banking and remote deposit, to provide the most demanded services without adding the overhead costs of operating multiple locations. This is one of the many reasons why the bank is one of the few left in the country not charging monthly fees. The single location strategy supports the bank’s original mission, in turn allowing it to promote the Blue Springs economy.
“We believe in this bank and community so much. Purchasing the center shows that we are physically and financially all-in,” said David Chinnery, bank president and CEO. “Our investment will help other local businesses grow and prosper, which is the heart of what makes community banking great for everyone.”
Bill Essmann Named as New Relationship Development Officer
When recruiting for a new relationship development officer, Essmann, a well-known Blue Springs business leader, was an obvious choice to grow the bank’s core business, customers and relationships. As a charter board member, Essmann helped mold the bank’s culture, systems and procedures that led to assets of over $100M and being one of the largest locally-owned banks in the Kansas City area.
“Growing core deposits continues to be key to our success and is how we will propel our bank to the next level in Blue Springs and eastern Jackson County. Bill will focus solely on all of the components of steady, deliberate and healthy growth for a bank. He will increase our awareness through meaningful relationships in an expanding market,” explains Chinnery.

Ernst & Young (EY) announced that Chinnery is a finalist for the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2016 Award in the Central Midwest, which encompasses Missouri and Kansas. The awards program, in its 30th year, recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. A panel of independent judges selected Chinnery as a finalist. “Not just Mr. Chinnery, but all of our bank’s associates talk to residents and local business owners about their goals and obstacles. A bank is often a community’s cornerstone, and so we structure Adams Dairy Bank’s mission and services around ensuring our customers have the banking service and support they need. Mr. Chinnery’s entrepreneurial-style leadership is the perfect example of a ‘we succeed by helping others succeed’ scenario,” explains Cathy Lincoln, Adams Dairy Bank’s chairman of the board.
