Team of 16 Air Force marathoners sponsored by ATRS Recycling raises awareness for Colorado Adaptive Sports athletes with disabilities.
Denver, CO (PRWEB) October 13, 2015
As the Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon & 1/2 Marathon celebrates its 10th Anniversary next week, American Textile Recycling Service (ATRS) employees, friends and family will be on hand to ensure the race through the Mile High City is clean and green for the second consecutive year. The 3-day event consisting of a Health & Fitness Expo and Race Day is expected to draw 15,000 runners from across the world on October 16-18.
American Textile Recycling Service will provide onsite textile recycling at the Health & Fitness Expo and will collect discarded warmup gear, clothing & shoes from the course for charitable recycling. The Houston-based company is also sponsoring 16 members of the United States Air Force and their families in the half marathon, 10K and 5K races taking place on October 18. The Airmen are running on behalf of ATRS nonprofit partner Colorado Adaptive Sports Foundation (CASF). Sponsored runners can be easily identified on the course, clad in bright green running gear including the campaign's signature ROCK RUN RECYCLE tank tops.
"My fellow Airmen and our families are honored to be running in the Rock 'n' Roll Denver Marathon on behalf of Colorado Adaptive Sports Foundation," said Ernest Regalado, an Airman in the United States Air Force and local Denver resident. "The drive and dedication demonstrated by CASF athletes is inspiring to us all. By running as a team, we challenge all marathoners and local residents to support these athletes year-round by donating into ATRS Clothing & Shoe Recyclers citywide."
All Rock ‘n’ Roll Denver marathoners, friends and family are encouraged to stop by ATRS Booth #214 to drop off gently used, out of season, unwanted running gear, shoes and other textile items for recycling. Every item dropped off at the Expo and on Race Day benefits Colorado Adaptive Sports Foundation’s award-winning athletes. These items are reused, resold and recycled to provide funding for CASF games, equipment and participation in competitive disabled festivals. Community members can also donate clothing & shoes year round. Simply visit the ATRS website or call the 24-Hr Hotline 866-900-9308 for your nearest bin location.
Through its continued national ROCK RUN RECYCLE Campaign and partnership with the Competitor Series, ATRS aims to educate local runners and marathon participants about the important benefits of recycling unwanted textile materials at running events. The Health and Fitness Expo allows ATRS Recycling to engage health-minded and environmentally conscious community members and share its philanthropic, sustainable message with a wide audience.
