BreakDown Tucson, a program of Hands of Hope, is excited to announce it is currently booking for the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 school years.

Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) October 27, 2015

BreakDown has traveled to high schools and middle schools in the Tucson area since 2001, presenting an exciting 60-minute performance that aligns with the Arizona Department of Education standards for Health Education. It aims to “educate, inspire, and challenge” young people to make healthy choices, and encourage teens to fight for their futures and live life without regrets.

“In a society where teens are often faced with difficult choices, many of them hurtful, a group of young people are saying they ‘want to be a part of a culture that is changed,” said Chelsea West BreakDown Tucson Dance Captain. The local team of high school and college students that comprises BreakDown Tucson is rejecting the idea that there is no hope for this young generation to make good decisions.

BreakDown combines drama, dance, spoken word and video to tell real-life stories. This peer-to-peer interaction, combined with professional lighting and sound, creates a relevant and raw performance that is thought-provoking. During the course of the presentation, students at area schools are confronted with a plethora of issues that many might find difficult to discuss, including drugs, alcohol, bullying, sex, suicide, relationships, STIs, rape, cutting, teen pregnancy, abuse and more.

After seeing a BreakDown Tucson assembly, local high school student Brittany Bullinger said she believed “every junior high and high school student should see this show because it could change their life.” Echoing that sentiment, BreakDown Tucson believes that every student would benefit from hearing that their past does not have to define them, they don’t have to struggle alone or in silence and, most importantly, that their lives are valuable and worth fighting for.
