Consumer Reports, the largest and most trusted consumer organization in the world, has named public interest advocate Laura MacCleery as its new Vice President of Consumer Policy and Mobilization. Ms. MacCleery will report to Marta Tellado, President and CEO.

A versatile public interest advocate and seasoned attorney, Ms. MacCleery will lead the not-for-profit organization’s consumer policy and mobilization strategy as it works to ensure that consumers’ voices are heard, their choices are meaningful and their access to affordable, safe, healthy, and sustainable products and services is clear and unfettered.

Ms. MacCleery has more than a decade of experience in developing strategic policy efforts and campaigns with consumers. Before joining CR, she was a Director of Regulatory Affairs for the Center for Science in the Public Interest, where she worked on issues including additives, food safety, labeling and public health. Prior to that, Ms. MacCleery served as a Director of Government Relations for the Center for Reproductive Rights.

During her career, Ms. MacCleery served as a Deputy Director for the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law. She also worked for nearly nine years at Public Citizen as Director of Congress Watch and as the Deputy Director for the Auto Safety Group, where she lead campaigns to improve motor vehicle fuel economy, safety and government accountability.

Ms. MacCleery clerked for Justice Hobbs of the Colorado Supreme Court, received her J.D. from Stanford University and is a member of the Colorado Bar Association. She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia.
