Dan Ariely’s Irrational Card Game lets players draw question cards that describe unique and unusual social science experiments - players win if they correctly predict the results. The Irrational Card Game has launched on Kickstarter to bring Dan Ariely’s game to the masses.

Dan Ariely’s Irrational Card Game, a thought provoking, engaging and fun way to incorporate social sciences and human behavior into a challenging and strategic game, today launched its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.
“We put a lot of thought into the design, mechanics, and fun factor of the game,” says Ariely. “We put players in the role of a human actor, and they try to predict and understand human behavior. The game gives them insight into their own behavior and the behavior of others. I’m very excited about the potential of using Kickstarter to bring the game to the public.”
Dan Ariely, the renowned Duke University professor, author, speaker and founding member of the Center for Advanced Hindsight, created this game to challenge and entertain people who share his fascination with human behavior.
“One of the most important life skills is the ability to predict how events might unfold. If you can improve this ability, you will be better able to master decisions,” says creator Ariely. “This is what social science is all about and that's why we created the Irrational Card Game.”
The Irrational Card Game includes numerous question cards that showcase human behavioral experiments in various categories, but predicting the results of these experiments isn’t enough to win the game. As part of the game mechanics, players can earn Power Cards that enable them to engage and challenge each other.
The game includes unusual and amusing experiments designed to keep players engaged and entertained and there is also a learning component. On the back of every question card players find a short takeaway – a summary of the conclusions reached by the scientists who conducted the experiment, and all of the lessons learned.
The game concept was soft launched on Facebook in recent weeks and it has already accumulated a fan base. Followers’ Facebook comments have been very positive – here’s a sampling of some early feedback: “Very cool! Gamified psychology!”, “Wonderful art and questions!”, “Very eye opening. Thanks!”, “The humans are VERY strange…”, “Brilliant idea!”, “Genius!!!”, “I want this now”, “Great way to learn a little science!”, “Really interested in this, and applying it at large scale to help behavior change”, “I can hardly wait to get this game!”, “Always brilliant”, “Very cool--can't wait!”
Dan Ariely’s Irrational Card Game is available on Kickstarter with rewards starting at $25. For more information, and to pre-order the Irrational Card Game visit: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/53020943/dan-arielys-irrational-card-game
