Dallas plastic surgeon and Professor Dr. Jeffrey M. Kenkel has been selected for Chair of the Department of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

After a rigorous national search, Dallas plastic surgeon and Professor of Plastic Surgery Dr. Jeffrey M. Kenkel has been selected to serve as the Betty and Warren Woodward Chair of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Dr. Kenkel, who served as interim Chair since 2014, has been a faculty member of the Department since 1996, has served as Vice-Chair since 2000, is the current Chair of the Surgical Services Executive Committee, and is the current Program Director of the Department's residency program - repeatedly recognized as one of the top plastic surgery programs in the world. The program is currently ranked number one on Doximity's reputation ranking system based on physician ratings. Dr. Kenkel also oversees a host of specialized fellowship training programs offered by the department, which focus on specific aspects of plastic surgery such as hand surgery, breast reconstruction, craniofacial surgery, and aesthetic plastic surgery in addition to many others.
"Through the hard work and dedication of our faculty, we have positioned ourselves as leaders and innovators in clinical plastic surgery," explains Dr. Kenkel. "We embrace our role as educators of residents and students as well as plastic surgeons throughout the world. We will focus on expanding on our expertise through outcomes based research as well as more focused investigation in specialized areas of plastic surgery."
Dr. Kenkel is currently a Director of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and also Associate Editor for the Aesthetic Surgery Journal. He has served as president of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and has authored over 140 papers on various topics in plastic surgery.
In conjunction with his work in teaching, education, and research, Dr. Kenkel maintains a remarkable clinical practice focusing on aesthetic plastic surgery. He is widely recognized to be among the top plastic surgeons via a number of peer reviewed awards. He has been selected as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, a Texas Monthly SuperDoctor, and has been identified among the best plastic surgeons in Dallas by D Magazine in addition to numerous other awards.
In addition to being selected as a Top Doctor in an independent, peer-reviewed list compiled by US News & World Report, Dr. Kenkel was identified as being in the top 1% of physicians in his specialty of plastic surgery, a special designation designed to recognize doctors who stand out, even among other Top Doctors.

Jeffrey M. Kenkel, M.D., F.A.C.S., is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He holds the Betty and Warren Woodward Chair in Plastic Surgery and serves as the Director of the Clinical Center for Cosmetic Laser Treatment. His clinical practice is located at the Outpatient Building on the UT Southwestern campus.
Dr. Kenkel has served as president of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
