Visual Challenge back by popular demand, Chief Science Officer to present on subjective testing
(PRWEB) May 10, 2016
EuclidIQ today used the Streaming Media East 2016 tradeshow, held at the New York Hilton Midtown, as a platform to announce advancements in subjective testing as well as the return of its popular EuclidIQ Visual Challenge.
EuclidIQ, which delivers innovative video compression products that mimic the human visual system to achieve quality through optimizing perceptual visual quality, will offer the popular Visual Challenge at its booth, Booth 215, on the Streaming Media East exhibit hall floor.
While taking the Visual Challenge, show attendees will experience firsthand the benefits of perceptual quality optimization (PQO). Widely hailed as a powerful and promising means of improving existing video compression, PQO integrates consideration of the human visual system into the video encoding process.
Those taking the Visual Challenge will also be registered for a daily drawing for an Amazon gift card, with one given away at the end of both days of the Streaming Media East show, which ends Wednesday, May 11.
EuclidIQ’s implementation of PQO is found in its plugin product, IQ264, which supports H.264 encoding, as well as the upcoming IQ265 product to support HEVC encoding.
“How well PQO succeeds in improving human perception of videos is best measured by human subjects,” said Dr. Nigel Lee, Chief Science Officer of EuclidIQ, “using a rigorous and thorough subjective testing methodology.”
Dr. Lee will present on the topic of subjective testing during a Discovery Track session on Wednesday, May 11. In his talk titled, The How and Why of Using Subjective Testing for Perceptual Quality Optimization, Dr. Lee will discuss how subjective testing assists with both compression algorithm work as well as its role as a definitive way to accurately measure quality and bandwidth savings.
“This talk describes how EuclidIQ uses subjective testing to measure the gains from and inform the further development of IQ264,” said Dr. Lee, “our technology that integrates PQO directly into H.264 encoding and achieves 25% bandwidth savings on average relative to reference H.264 encoding at equivalent quality.”
The talk will be held at 11:45 AM on Wednesday, May 11, the final day of Streaming Media East 2016, in the Discovery Track area just off the exhibit hall floor.
Headquartered in Concord, MA, EuclidIQ has a legacy in solving complex video compression challenges. The company has two innovative technologies—IQ264 (H.264) and EuclidVision (MPEG-2)—that deliver significant bandwidth savings while maintaining visual quality. The company’s patented technologies augment standards-based encoders, and content encoded via EuclidIQ’s advanced algorithms can be decoded on any standards-based video decoder.
