Analytic Solver Platform Makes It Easy to Visualize Results of Data Mining and Forecasting, Text Mining, Monte Carlo Simulation and Risk Analysis, Conventional and Stochastic Optimization in Tableau

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (PRWEB) October 20, 2015

For the first time at the Tableau User Conference 2015 (TC15), Frontline Systems is demonstrating its new Analytic Solver® Platform V2015-R2 release, featuring an integration with Tableau that makes it easy to visualize results from a wide range of advanced analytic methods applied to data and business models in Microsoft Excel.

“Tableau is a very popular data visualization tool for Excel users,” said Daniel Fylstra, Frontline’s President and CEO. “Our tools give business analysts who aren’t data science PhDs access to the most advanced analytics methods, with results of those methods visualized and shared in Tableau.” With a single button click, users can create Tableau Data Extract (TDE) files holding analytic model results.

Frontline is also demonstrating its SDKs (Software Development Kits) for embedded analytics, and its RASON® modeling language and REST API, both of which interoperate with Analytic Solver Platform.

Data Mining and Text Mining for Non-Data Scientists

XLMiner®, one component of the Analytic Solver Platform, offers business analysts point-and-click access to a wide range of advanced “data science” tools, from clustering, feature selection, and latent semantic analysis of text to ensembles of trees and neural networks for classification and prediction – without any R, Python or other programming required. XLMiner analyzes numeric and textual data from a wide range of sources, including a special link to Apache Spark Big Data clusters – going beyond SQL access to call Spark APIs directly, enabling operations such as high performance, statistically representative sampling.

Optimization Upward Compatible from Excel Solver

Premium Solver®, another component of the Analytic Solver Platform, is upward compatible from the Solver included in Excel, which Frontline originally developed for Microsoft. It enables business analysts to find the best or optimal way to allocate scarce resources, such as money, raw materials or staff time. Users can solve problems hundreds to thousands of times larger than the basic Excel Solver, at speeds from several times to hundreds of times faster, and they can solve new types of problems – such as large-scale stochastic optimization problems, up to the state of the art offered on any software platform.

Monte Carlo Simulation and Risk Analysis for Business Analysts

Risk Solver®, a third component of the Analytic Solver Platform, offers business analysts point-and-click tools for analyzing risk and uncertainty in nearly any business situation, as well as results from multi-stage decisions using decision trees. Like other Frontline tools, Risk Solver offers “no-compromise” performance Monte Carlo simulation, with the flexibility of Excel models, yet speed approaching custom programming language code. Indeed, Oracle’s Crystal Ball software for simulation and risk analysis in Excel relies on Frontline-developed software for its “Extreme Speed” feature.

Publishing Analytic Models to Web-based Spreadsheets

With the Analytic Solver Platform, users can easily publish optimization and simulation models to Excel Online or Google Sheets, and solve them in the cloud with Frontline’s Solver and Risk Solver add-ons – up to the maximum size permitted by their desktop licenses. They can store their models in Office 365 or SharePoint 2013, OneDrive or OneDrive for Business, or Google Drive.

Analytic models published “to the cloud” can be viewed and edited through a web browser, but are solved using Frontline’s powerful, scalable RASON Server and REST API on Microsoft Azure. This server supports multi-purpose embedded analytics applications, created in Frontline’s innovative RASON modeling language, embedded in JSON (JavaScript Object Notation). Application developers can use the RASON service directly – free developer accounts are available at https://rason.com.

Academic Version with Leading Market Share in MBA Education

Analytic Solver Platform for Education (ASPE) is the software most widely used to teach analytics methods to MBA and undergraduate business students. A wide range of textbooks published over the past decade (over 45 editions in all) feature use of the software, and over 500,000 students have downloaded ASPE or its predecessors from Frontline’s website Solver.com. This semester, over 300 courses are currently being taught with ASPE.

Frontline Systems Inc. (http://www.solver.com) is the leader in spreadsheet-based analytics software, helping managers gain insights and make better decisions for an uncertain future. Its products integrate forecasting and data mining for “predictive analytics,” Monte Carlo simulation and risk analysis, and conventional and stochastic optimization for “prescriptive analytics.” Frontline developed the solvers/optimizers in Microsoft Excel, Lotus 1-2-3 and Quattro Pro, distributed to more than 1 billion spreadsheet users. Founded in 1987, Frontline is based in Incline Village, Nevada (775-831-0300).
