Rabbi Yoshi Zweiback installed as Senior Rabbi of Stephen Wise Temple
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 12, 2015
Hundreds of people will gather at Stephen Wise Temple in Los Angeles on Friday, October 16, 2015, at 7:30 p.m., for a special Shabbat service and the installation of Rabbi Yoshi Zweiback as Senior Rabbi of Stephen Wise Temple.
“We make meaning and change the world,” the carefully honed Temple Vision statement introduced earlier this year by Rabbi Yoshi, has become central to the Temple’s culture of bringing about meaningful change that makes the world a better place.
Only the third Senior Rabbi in the 51 years since the founding of the Temple, Rabbi Yoshi succeeds Rabbi Eli Herscher, who became Senior Rabbi Emeritus last May, and Stephen Wise Temple Founding Rabbi Isaiah Zeldin. Previously Head of Wise School as well as a member of the Temple clergy team, Rabbi Yoshi continues his close association with Wise School, while bringing a fresh vision, strong commitment and youthful energy to his leadership of the Temple.
In the words of Rabbi Aaron D. Panken, Ph.D., of Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion, Rabbi Yoshi is a “thoughtful teacher and educator; inspiring speaker and sensitive pastor; talented musician and songleader; leader of diverse, creative and contemporary modes of religious and spiritual life and a committed Reform Jew who understands what it means to build our community.”
This joyous Shabbat service will be a musical and moving program, including distinguished guests, and an opportunity to greet Rabbi Yoshi following the installation at a grand Dessert Oneg celebration on the Temple Plaza, attendance by RSVP.
New prayer books, generously donated by Temple President Glenn Sonnenberg, his wife Andrea Sonnenberg, and family, will be introduced on this historic occasion, bringing new meaning to the Temple worship services. Many of these prayer books have individualized bookplate dedications from congregants.
