Portland-based medical malpractice law firm Hodgkinson Street Mepham experienced four major wins across Oregon and Washington.
Portland, Ore. (PRWEB) November 03, 2015
For the last six years, Hodgkinson Street Mepham (HSM) has delivered aggressive and disciplined representation for their Oregon and Washington clients. Through collaborative team efforts, the attorneys from HSM have had an impressive year defending their clients at trial.
The first major win of 2015 came in February. In Multnomah County, HSM attorneys David Mepham and Abby Miller expertly defended their client, an OBGYN (Multnomah County Court 1306-08953). According to the court documents, the plaintiff alleged the defendant prescribed a medication that lowered the plaintiff’s seizure threshold. The plaintiff further alleged she experienced a seizure while driving, and subsequently sued her neurologist, OBGYN, and pharmacist for damages. The jury returned a unanimous defense verdict.
In March, HSM received another unanimous defense verdict in King County, Washington. Court documents show that the plaintiff alleged HSM’s client, an emergency medicine physician, failed to diagnose a spinal epidural abscess resulting in paraplegia (King County Court 13-2-33708-8 SEA). Throughout a two week trial, defense attorney Jeffrey Street successfully argued that his client appropriately evaluated the patient and admitted him to the hospital for further treatment of his symptoms.
Another major win came out of Kitsap County, Washington in June. HSM’s Jeffrey Street and Brad Piscadlo defended their client, a radiologist, in a wrongful death case alleging failure to diagnose an anomalous nodule on an imaging report (Kitsap County Court 13-2-01140-1). Street and Piscadlo successfully argued that the care the plaintiff received was appropriate and that subsequent studies identified the nodule. The jury returned a unanimous defense verdict in less than ten minutes.
Most recently, HSM’s Martha Hodgkinson and Jeffrey Street jointly defended their client, an anesthesiologist, in another wrongful death case in Deschutes County, Oregon in August (Deschutes County Court 13CV1437). Court documents show the plaintiff alleged that the defendant failed to recognize a potential cardiac issue during the patient’s cervical spine surgery—the patient later died of a cardiac event. Hodgkinson and Street successfully argued there was no indication of a cardiac issue during surgery. Following a two week trial, the jury returned a unanimous defense verdict in less than an hour.
Through preparation and expert testimony, the trial teams at Hodgkinson Street Mepham continue to bring in exceptional results for their clients. The firm plans to take at least two more cases to jury trial before the end of 2015.
