Gayborhood, an app allowing members of the LGBT community to find and support local businesses, is pleased to unveil a new online home just in time for GLAAD’s 5th annual “Spirit Day.” Spirit Day is an event that targets fighting bullying and discrimination of LGBT individuals and families.
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 04, 2015
Gayborhood, a respected app highlighting LGBT-accepting businesses U.S. cities, is proud to announce their new online home, found at http://www.Gayborhood.com.
The new site launched on October 9, 2015, to coincide with the 5th annual “Sprit Day,” and features a new look complete with a new logo and icon.
The new Gayborhood.com also showcases enhanced features and interactive technology allowing users to embrace the community feel Gayborhood embodies. Examples of new features include:
- The ability to earn exclusive Badges created by Local LGBT Artists when you check in to businesses. Badges include the coveted Queen Bee Badge as well as BarFly, Gayby, Ambassador, and Foodie badges. Many of the badges are designed by artist Brad Gibson.
- Easily refer a business that is LGBT welcoming right from the app’s home screen.
- Improved search ability for finding places near and far.
The unveiling of the new site is something that has been a high priority for the founders of Gayborhood for quite some time, “We have been working tirelessly on this project for almost a year to improve the look, features, and ease with which users can discover LGBT-Welcoming places across the country,” said Marci Alt, CEO of Gayborhood.
The timing of the release was inspired by Gayborhood’s long history of support for various LGBT initiatives and charities, including GLAAD’s Spirit Day, hosted in October. The day, symbolized by millions of people wearing purple to show their support for the LGBT Community and to combat bullying, is at the heart of Gayborhood’s mission to identify and support local businesses that embrace the LGBT community.
“Our work to help combat discrimination is at the core of what we do, so much so we branded ourselves around the color purple to embodied the idea of Spirit Day, every day,” said Thomas Ryan-Lawrence, COO of Gayborhood.
The Gayborhood is growing, too. Partnerships are expanding in large metropolitan areas including Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, South Florida, Orlando, Houston, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Denver, working together to make America a “Little More Fabulous, One City at a Time.”
