Yarn retailer to sell yarn and pattern kits to make popular handknit garments from the Starz network television show

Lion Brand® Yarn Company is the official license holder for knit and crochet patterns inspired by Outlander the Series.
Outlander the Series is a romantic, time-travel adventure based on the novels by best-selling author and avid knitter herself, Diana Gabaldon. In the first season, the storyline takes place in 18th century Scotland, and knitwear is prominently featured throughout.
“We know that many knitters watch the show and are inspired by the vintage designs worn by Claire, so we’re very excited to be a part of this opportunity. We watched the show very closely to design patterns similar to Claire’s garments, and to also properly evoke the aesthetics of the time period in our overall presentation of the collection,” says Susan Haviland, Design Editor at Lion Brand®.
Lion Brand®'s collection of designs will retail as a kitted package which will include the pattern and yarn needed to make the design. The patterns will allow for easy recreations of some of the show’s most popular patterns. 14 kits will be available, 7 knit and 7 crochet patterns, ranging in price from $6 to $20, and will be available on lionbrand.com.
Outlander is the winner of the Critic’s Choice Award for Most Exciting New Series (2014), and the Peoples’ Choice Award for Favorite Cable Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV show (2015). It recently completed its first season and was picked up for a second season on the cable network channel, Starz.
