International Building Competition in Irvine, Calif. Promotes Sustainable Home Design
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (PRWEB) October 18, 2015
NanaWall Systems, the industry leader in opening glass wall systems, is featured in three homes within the 2015 U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon. The Solar Decathlon challenges collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. Each home incorporates NanaWall opening glass wall systems in order to maximize the homes’ connection to the outdoors while achieving energy efficiency, durability, and high structural ratings. Winners will be announced at the end of the competition on Oct. 17.
“NanaWall Systems has been utilized in over a dozen Solar Decathlon homes since 2005, providing engineered solutions to the visions of cutting edge building technology without sacrificing aesthetics,” said NanaWall Systems CEO Ebrahim Nana. “We are proud to participate in this important competition that inspires clean-energy for residential construction.”
“With the help of NanaWall Systems, Solar Cal Poly was able to nearly double our living space by opening up 15 feet of the southern module. We can make a 1,000 square foot home feel more like 1,500 square feet,” said Solar Cal Poly Co-Project Manager Alyssa Parr.
The three Solar Decathlon teams that have incorporated NanaWall Systems into their projects include:
