National Quality Forum (NQF) has endorsed the Focus on Therapeutic Outcomes (FOTO®) Measurement System after a rigorous review process by expert committees of stakeholders across the healthcare continuum using 5 endorsement criteria.
Knoxville, TN (PRWEB) October 20, 2015
The NQF Endorsement Criteria ensures when the same NQF-endorsed® measures are used by the public and organizations, they are assured they are "best-in-class" and are reliable measures that can be compared. Comparative data can then be used by policy-makers, researchers, providers and consumers to make better decisions and improve the quality of healthcare. The NQF measures are used to achieve the National Quality Strategy (NQS) Improvement in Healthcare initiative by promising better health, better care and more affordable care. FOTO NQF endorsed measures are for Knee, Hip, Foot and Ankle, Lumbar, Shoulder, Elbow-Wrist and Hand, and General Orthopedic.
Ben Johnston, CEO, stated "FOTO is proud to be the first and only (at this time) outcomes measurement system to receive this distinguished recognition. The importance of the NQF endorsement goes beyond just endorsing a tool, but endorsing the actual system and formulas FOTO uses to compare the effectiveness of care at the patient, clinician, and clinic levels."
According to Tim Ferris, co-chair of NQF's Consensus Standards Approval Committee, "Measures are the only way we can really know if care is safe, efficient, effective and patient-centered. Performance measures also help us improve faster. We can make correction earlier in providing care."
