Neptune Benson is pleased to announce that the City of Moline’s UV disinfection project, which features ETS SX-635-16 medium pressure reactors, has been selected to receive the 2016 ACEC (American Council of Engineering Companies) Engineering Excellence National Award in the water resources category. Neptune Benson was selected to supply eight ETS-UV systems for this drinking water project because its innovative and cost effective way to inactivate Cryptosporidium and provide operational flexibility, which is critically important when treating Mississippi river water.
The project, engineered by Greeley and Hansen, became eligible to compete in the national level awards following the 2016 Illinois ACEC Award announced in mid-December 2015.
The Engineering Excellence Awards Competition recognizes projects of engineering achievement by consulting engineering firms throughout the United States. Entries are judged on the basis of engineering excellence, the degree to which the client's needs are met, and the benefits to the public welfare and private practice of engineering. The highest level of award is an Honor award, which is awarded to a project that is recognized for exceptional engineering that meets the needs of the client and benefit public welfare.
“We are extremely happy for both Greeley and Hansen and the City of Moline for their recognition on this project," said Ken Rodi CEO of Neptune Benson, "We're also very proud of our role in helping to achieve this recognition. The project was a case study in collaborative engineering; it emphasizes the teamwork that goes into these projects and the strength of our UV engineering."
Neptune Benson broadly utilizes Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to engineer and optimize how its UV systems will perform. This powerful emulation technology allows systems to be engineered to deliver the highest performance for the lowest power and head loss.
