Company’s wireless power antennas recognized as one of the most innovative new products and services in the Chicago region
Chicago (PRWEB) October 29, 2015
NuCurrent, a leader in wireless power antenna technology, announces the company has been named a winner of the 2015 Chicago Innovation Up-and-Comer Awards. The awards celebrate the most innovative new products and services in the Chicago region across all organization sizes, sectors and industries. Winners for each of the Chicago Innovation Awards categories were announced at a gala event on October 27 at Harris Theater in Chicago.
Now in its 14th year, the Chicago Innovation Awards brings together Chicago’s business and civic leaders to recognize the most innovative new products and services introduced in the market. This year’s program attracted more than 500 nominees, which was narrowed down by a panel of accomplished judges representing a balanced portfolio of Chicago area companies. The winning organizations receive a variety of honors including the opportunity to ring the NASDAQ Bell in New York City, and meetings with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner and Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle. Past award winners include Molex, Braintree, Groupon, GoGo, Cleversafe, Motorola and Orbitz.
“Local innovators continue to illuminate the Chicago region as a growing hotbed of creative activity that cuts across all sectors and industries,” said Tom Kuczmarski, co-founder of the awards along with Chicago journalist Dan Miller. “Every winner of the Chicago Innovation Awards demonstrates how a unique solution to an unmet need can bring transformative impact in the marketplace.”
“We are honored and humbled to have been named a winner of this year’s awards, among this group of top innovators,” said Jacob Babcock, CEO, NuCurrent. “Wireless power is changing the way the people interact with electronics from wearables to phones to IoT and even automobiles. That’s why customers, including major mobile phone companies and automobile suppliers, continue to turn to NuCurrent because our patented antennas are the smallest form factors, lowest heating and fastest charging in the world.”
NuCurrent was recently named a finalist for two 2015 Illinois Technology Association (ITA) CityLIGHTS Awards, which honors companies and individuals whose innovation and success drive growth in the technology industry and in Illinois. NuCurrent was also named to the 2015 Crain’s Chicago Business Eureka Index, which identifies Chicago's most proficient producers of patents, based on headcount. After being awarded 14 patents in 2014, NuCurrent was named No. 1 on the index with the highest per-capita output of any Chicago-area company. The company was also listed in the top 10 percent overall in patent quality score, which considers the uniqueness of the invention covered by a patent and other important factors.
