The O’Donnell Insurance Agency, a full service insurance firm serving greater Daytona, Florida, is launching a charity program in collaboration local nonprofit organizations and community members to seek out ways to benefit the community. Its first campaign partners with Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida to raise funds which will enable them to feed more local people during this holiday season, and beyond.
Daytona, FL (PRWEB) November 04, 2015
O’Donnell Insurance Agency, a family owned and operated agency with offices serving the greater Daytona area, has announced the commencement of a master charity program created to assist the local community. Operating as ‘Agents of Change’ by selecting a new beneficiary every 30-60 days, the agency will work closely with nonprofit organizations in the area. Their hope is to bring community awareness to important local causes by forming campaigns which aid worthy individuals, families or groups with fundraising and other support.
To debut the new community involvement program, Vicki O’Donnell, the agency’s principal, has chosen to introduce Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. The campaign’s objective is to raise funds, as well as increase awareness of the need for volunteers to help feed the local hungry population. With 1 in 6 central Floridians suffering from hunger and food insecurity, many of them children, all too many local families have been touched in some way by hunger.
A recent study revealed that people in central Florida sought food assistance 3.6 million times last year alone, and worrying about how to put food on the table is becoming a very real challenge in most neighborhoods. Dispelling many popular stereotypes, the study found that food insecurity includes working people who are struggling to raise families, pay taxes, work toward higher education and deal with health problems. It’s also prevalent among past and active members of the U.S. Military and their families. Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida and O’Donnell Insurance Agency are committed to assisting hungry neighbors. Last year Second Harvest distributed over 64 million pounds of groceries to food pantries, soup kitchens, women’s shelters, senior centers and day cares. The need for fundraising and volunteers is an ongoing challenge.
“Especially going into the holiday season, we feel it’s critical to help local people in any way we can,” said Vicki O’Donnell, owner of O’Donnell Insurance Agency. “Our team hopes to pull everyone together in support of those who need it most with our community enrichment program, and are very pleased to kickoff by partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. We can eradicate hunger in our neighborhoods if we all work together!”
O’Donnell Insurance recently launched their community involvement program, and Vicki O’Donnell pledges to support at least one new local charity every 30-60 days. Each featured campaign will have a donations page with a fully detailed story, spotlighting the current cause. The agency will also spread the word through its own database of customers, business partners, staff, neighbors and friends.
