Presented by Ice-America and Sponsored by Perforce Software Foundation and KRON 4, The Little Ice Rink is open November 6, 2015, through January 18, 2016.
Alameda, CA (PRWEB) November 04, 2015
Alameda South Shore Center announces the opening of The Little Ice Rink on Friday, November 6, 2015 just in time for the holiday season. Presented by Ice-America for its fourth consecutive year and sponsored by the Perforce Software Foundation and KRON 4, The Little Ice Rink brings 4,100 square feet of ice skating bliss with plenty of chill for every level of skill and every age. Ice-America also brings back its “Bobby” the Seal to provide extra balance for kids of all ages.
For the grand opening on November 6th, Sharkie, the Bay Area-renowned mascot of the San Jose Sharks, will make an appearance to celebrate and take pictures with skaters. Sharkie has two additional scheduled appearances on Saturday, December 19th at 3:30pm and Friday, January 15th at 7pm. The grand opening will also feature highly skilled performances by Alyssa Liu, regional silver medalist, Ashley Clark, a United States national medalist, and local ice skaters Sandy Lee and Heather Benoit. Weekly skating performances are planned for Fridays at 7:45pm throughout the entire season.
Since the holidays are a season of giving, every year South Shore Center and The Little Ice Rink partner to support the Alameda Education Foundation (AEF) to spread cheer by donating ice skating tickets to students and families in need. AEF serves as the conduit for this effort by reaching out to local schools to find out how many they need so that each child in need gets a chance to enjoy The Little Ice Rink for the holidays.
“We are excited to welcome The Little Ice Rink, presented by Ice-America and sponsored by Perforce Software Foundation and KRON 4, for their fourth annual season at Alameda South Shore Center,” says Michael Phillips of JAMESTOWN, owner of Alameda South Shore Center. “We are committed to celebrating the small town community spirit of Alameda.”
The Little Ice Rink is the largest outdoor skating rink between the Bay Bridge and the Caldecott Tunnel and the only rink in the Bay Area with the Bobby Seal skating aid that draws over 25,000 skaters each season. Located between Park Street and Petco in South Shore Center, the rink is ideally situated to enjoy the conveniences of holiday shopping and dining, as well as get an amazing seaside view while you ice skate.
