Rockler Woodworking and Hardware has introduced two new accessories that expand the versatility of the acclaimed Sure-Foot Plus® 3/4" Pipe Clamps: Rockler Pipe Clamp Jaw Extenders and Rockler Pipe Clamp Mounting Brackets.

Rockler Pipe Clamp Jaw Extenders:
The heavy-duty cast-steel Jaw Extenders fit over and bolt to the faces of Sure-Foot and Sure-Foot Plus® clamps to provide a full 45⁄8" of throat depth — ideal for jobs requiring the deep reach of an F-style clamp but the length of a pipe clamp.

“Pipe clamps are a workshop staple because they provide a lot of clamping pressure and you can make them whatever length you need,” said Steve Krohmer, Rockler's vice president for merchandising and product development. “Rockler's Sure-Foot Plus pipe clamps improved on the standard design by extending the feet for stability and clearance, and the new Pipe Clamp Extender Jaws add clamping depth to the Sure-Foot to give it the reach of an F-style clamp.”

Flat pads that extend from curved throats at the tops of the single-piece castings provide enough reach to press in bowed casework end panels that would be impossible to correct with a standard clamp. Underneath the pads are wide, flat sections that provide 21⁄2" of depth for clamping glued-up panels ranging from cutting boards to benchtops.

The Jaw Extenders have mounting holes that align with those in the Sure-Foot Plus clamps. Installation is quick and easy: Remove the bar from the Sure-Foot clamps, slide the Jaw Extenders onto the faces and bolt in place. (Mounting nuts sit below the surface in recesses in the Jaw Extenders.) When the bar is reinstalled, it passes through the Jaw Extenders, too, providing added strength.

The Jaw Extenders are sold in sets of two (enough for one pipe clamp), and all mounting hardware is included.

Rockler Pipe Clamp Mounting Brackets:
Rockler's Pipe Clamp Mounting Brackets attach to the crossbeam of a sawhorse or to other 2x stock, anchoring a standard 3/4" pipe clamp so it can hold material on top of the sawhorse or serve as an on-site vise for such operations as planing the edge of a door.

"The new Pipe Clamp Mounting Brackets essentially provide an extra set of hands when you're working with sawhorses, " Krohmer said. "Pipe clamps mount quickly and adjust easily to whatever position you need to securely hold the stock being worked on for sawing, routing or planing."

Sold in sets of two, the brackets are made from heavy-duty steel and mount to any 11⁄2" thick beam with the included screws. Each bracket swings open to accept a 3/4" pipe in a reinforced nylon ring clamp fitted with a rubber gasket for a better grip. The ring clamp is tightened with a tool-free thumbscrew.

The clamps are positioned in the upright position when in use. By loosening the thumbscrew on the brackets, users can rotate the clamps out of the way if the sawhorses need to be used without them.

Rockler's Pipe Clamp Jaw Extenders (58516) are priced at $19.99 per set, and the Pipe Clamp Mounting Brackets (54725) are $34.99 per set. Both can be purchased at Rockler.com or at Rockler Woodworking and Hardware stores nationwide, as well as through the Rockler catalog.
