Barneys Warehouse sale's new website: Our top picks
The Barneys Warehouse sale was once a biannual event of epic proportions. Flocks of fashionistas from all over the New York metro area would storm the Chelsea outpost in search of discounts on designer goods that could reach up to 75 percent.
In February, the sale entered the e-commerce frontier with a permanent website that offers discounts on luxurious labels, ranging from Alexander Wang cocktail dresses for women to Zagliani’s crocodile-embossed iPad cases for men.
The sale had become notorious for long, winding lines and rapacious shoppers clawing at each other to score last-season Prada shoes at a fraction of the price. The Barneys Warehouse website, barneyswarehouse.com, will now offer these shoppers the chance to browse Manolo Blahnik sandals and A.P.C. jeans in the comfort of their homes.
Some highlights of items on sale now include an oxblood patent leather Lanvin dress that was originally $2,475 and is now $619 (about 74 percent off) and a classic Rag & Bone two-button blazer in navy wool for men that was originally $695 and is now $279 (about 59 percent off).
Come summer, the Dolce & Gabbana Double Layer Jackie Dress in white lace (down to $529 from $2,125) will be perfect for moms on the go and the Nike Classic Cortez shoes in black nylon with flamingo pink laces, (down to $29 from $75) will be perfect with a pair of chinos for high school students enjoying their summer vacation.
