The Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency plans to expand its outreach to businesses with a new advertising campaign that includes television commercials.

The agency's board of directors on Thursday endorsed recommendations from its marketing consultant, Zimmerman/Edelson Inc. of Great Neck, for a campaign to include TV, radio, Internet and print ads.

Ron Edelson, a partner in Zimmerman/Edelson, said the campaign would include testimonials from companies helped by the IDA.

The IDA agreed to increase the marketing firm's fee by $3,500 per month to $7,500.

IDA chairman Joanne Minieri said the ad campaign would cost more than the $400,000 set aside in this year's budget.

The IDA on Thursday also extended by two weeks a consulting agreement with its former executive director Anthony Manetta. His $10,000-per-month contract was set to expire Monday.

Manetta said he would be paid an additional $5,000 for the first half of July to work on the ad campaign.
