Eighteen companies, including Cablevision and Verizon Wireless, are seeking to offer wireless Internet service throughout the Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad systems, the Metropolitan Transit Authority said.
The agency received responses this week to its request for "expressions of interest" for the project. Other companies include AT&T and Sprint.
