Apple Inc. can add patent- infringement claims against the Samsung Galaxy Note, Galaxy S III and the Jelly Bean operating system, and Samsung Electronics Co. can add the iPhone 5 to its infringement claims against Apple, a federal judge ruled.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Paul Grewal's ruling Thursday came in a second patent lawsuit between the two mobile giants pending in San Jose, Calif. In an earlier lawsuit that went to trial in July, a jury found Aug. 24 that Samsung infringed six of seven Apple patents at issue and awarded $1.05 billion in damages.
