Massachusetts Institute of Technology student Steve Russell creates Spacewar! It is considered the first interactive video game.

The basic gameplay involves two spaceships, each controlled by human players, attempting to shoot each other while being pulled to the center by the gravity of a killer star. Each ship had a limited number of missiles and a limited supply of fuel.(Credit: http://www.flickr.com/photos/)
