ChyronHego Corp., the Melville-based maker of broadcast graphics and data visualization products, is continuing its acquisition streak. The company announced this week that it has agreed to acquire WeatherOne AS, a provider of weather forecasts owned by Norway's Metaphor AS, and take a majority stake in another Norwegian company, ZXY Sport Tracking AS, which makes sports tracking systems. Financial terms were not disclosed for either company. Chyron acquired Swedish sports graphics company Hego Aktiebolag in May.
"ZXY Sport Tracking offers powerful sports analysis technology that will further strengthen our products in this space," Johan Apel, ChyronHego chief executive, said in statement. Soccer, football and ice hockey players wear ZXY data chips that transmit their position, speeds and impact from collisions.
WeatherOne's forecasting systems are used by TV stations in 40 countries, said company founder Karl Eggestad.
Shares of ChyronHego edged up 4 cents to $2.85 in early afternoon trading Wednesday.
