Anthony Bourdain, Diddy earn Hudson Valley Tweets of the Week
Photo credit: Newsday.com composite | Anthony Bourdain, Diddy and Susan Sarandon earn Tweets of the Week honors on Friday, Sept. 21.
Sometimes it's not enough for a celebrity to tweet. At Newsday Westchester, we're all about the Twitter rants and raves from famous folks with strong ties to the Hudson Valley.
And, in the case of three of this week's winners, it doesn't hurt if said commentary involves animals. Just ask the cat who wanted a "cheezburger" (sic).
As always, if you missed any of our previous editions of the Hudson Valley Tweets of the week, click here.
At No. 5 is Anthony Bourdain, one of the most famous alumni of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. On Tuesday, he was lounging by the pool in Los Angeles, y'know, being all Hollywood, when a model just had to go and upstage him.

You know Hollywood is a tough town when a monkey is getting all the choice gigs. Just ask the cast of "Animal Practice." I would've loved a photo of not only the monkey, but also of Bourdain's bemused/amused expression in the foreground.
J.B. Smoove earns the fourth spot on the countdown, causing a ruckus with a legendary boxer on the set of the new, semi-scripted BET show, "Real Husbands of Hollywood."

Smoove might wince at the idea of facing off against "Sugar" Shane Moseley in real life, but the actor who grew up in Mount Vernon certainly held his own when he sparred with Larry David on "Curb Your Ethusiasm."
Speaking of former Mount Vernon residents, Diddy lands at No. 3 for his decision to post a sweet vintage photo of Sean Combs and Shawn Carter, a.k.a. himself and Scarsdale homeowner Jay-Z, respectively.

If you're wondering how I know this is an old pic, look beyond the faces, wardrobes and hairlines — all of which appear to be in keeping with 2012. But check out those phones! The last time Jay-Z publicly acknowledged a "Motorola two-way page," it was at a June 23 concert in London, and the relic was merely cited as a lyric in "(I Just Wanna Love U) Give it 2 Me." Unless old phones are somehow suddenly cooler than the iPhone 5, I'm guessing this pic's from 2002.
At No. 2, we have Penny Lane, one of two tweeting dogs owned by Oscar-winner Susan Sarandon, who owns property in Pound Ridge and stars with Bedford resident Richard Gere in the new movie, "Arbitrage." While sifting through tweets for this feature on Sarandon's page, I discovered Penny, and decided to ask the popular pup — with nearly 3,000 followers! — if she plans to follow in her owner's footsteps. Early Friday morning, I received my answer.

That Penny Lane is one savvy interview, throwing Newsday Westchester a bone with a reference to another Hudson Valley celebrity in Carole Radziwill, a "Real Housewives of New York City" cast member who grew up in Suffern. Good doggie! (Also, thanks to Sarandon, or whoever it is tweeting on Penny's behalf.)
So, what could possibly beat an Oscar winner's "talking" dog? A pun-tastic polar bear, of course, courtesy of Dobbs Ferry native Max Greenfield, who might just snag an Emmy Award this weekend for equally amusing antics on "New Girl."

Why top that photo and caption with superflouous commentary? It's perfect as is.
