Billy Joel, Diddy earn Hudson Valley Tweets of the Week
For this edition of the Hudson Valley Tweets of the Week, Billy Joel and Diddy take a stroll down memory lane, while model Coco Rocha picks up the pace while she tries to escape with some coveted hardware.
Because the following embedded tweets, links, photos and videos involve HTML coding, this feature is best viewed with a Web browser. If you missed previous installments of the Hudson Valley Tweets of the Week, click here.
In third place this week is Diddy, who grew up in Mount Vernon and tweeted an Instagram photo to show us the origins of why he's a "bad boy for life."
One of the many fantastic things about this photo is that he's exuding nothing but confidence even as a toddler. He could be a spokesman, er, spokes-kid, in this photo. I'm ready to buy whatever Capri Sun flavor he's selling.
This week's runner up belongs to former Highland Falls resident Billy Joel, who participated yesterday in a Q&A at the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Queens. Questions and answers were posted to Joel's Twitter feed, including this fun bit about his first experience with radio success.
I pulled over to the side of the road, and I'm yelling, and I just started laughing and jumping up and down. It was a great feeling. #bil...— Billy Joel (@billyjoel) May 30, 2013
In an era when viral YouTube videos appear to have softened the impact of initial radio play, think about how increidble it must have been to have a song play for an entire market. I don't think I'd have stopped yelling or jumping up and down for days. (And, yes, I'm avoiding the obvious joke about Billy Joel's driving record, mostly because I'm a huge fan.)
In this week's top spot is Coco Rocha, a Hastings-on-Hastings resident who tweeted her Vine about her spirited attempt to escape with basketball's top trophy.
I especially like the half-hearted effort to catch her, considering she's "running" about as fast as I walk. But in her defense, she's wearing heels that are about as tall as I am.
