Hayden Panettiere, Michael Douglas to attend Correspondents' Dinner
This year's White House Correspondents' Dinner will be served up with a heavy sprinkle of Hudson Valley star power: Hayden Panettiere, Michael Douglas and Kate Mara will be among the celebs upping the glam factor.
Dubbed the "Nerd Prom" in recent years, the Saturday dinner will be headlined by talk show host Conan O’Brien, returning to host for the first time since his original stint in 1995.
According to Deadline, Panettiere, a Palisades native, will be attending the dinner along with her “Nashville” co-star Connie Britton. The seating arrangements seem to be based on their most recent acting roles. Britton and Panettiere will be sitting at the ABC News table because their drama airs on that network.
Michael Douglas, a Bedford resident, reportedly will be rubbing shoulders with TV stars Matthew Perry and Michael J. Fox at the NBC News table. Although the Oscar winner has the HBO movie “Behind the Candelabra” coming out next month, his seat with the network is likely due to the fact that he voices the intros for "NBC News."
And Politico reports that Bedford native Kate Mara will be attending along with her “House of Cards” castmates Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright. According to Deadline, the trio will be seated at the Bloomberg News table.
Other newsmakers expected to attend are the cast of the reality hit “Duck Dynasty,” injured University of Louisville basketball player Kevin Ware and Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas.
The event will be broadcast live on MSNBC and C-SPAN, with C-SPAN broadcasting from 6:30 to 11:15 p.m. New York time, and MSNBC airing coverage beginning around 9:30 p.m. And for the first time, indicating just how glitzy the dinner has become, E! Entertainment network will livestream the event’s red-carpet moments.
