Taylor Swift lands Joni Mitchell role in biopic

Taylor Swift has had a spectacularly successful year, and she doesn’t show any hint of slowing down.
Variety is reporting that the pop star (and girlfriend of Bedford’s Conor Kennedy) has signed on to play '60s folk icon Joni Mitchell in “Girls Like Us,” a movie based on a nonfiction book about Mitchell and fellow songstresses Carole King and Carly Simon.
The 22-year-old singer has had only a few acting stints, including a small role opposite then-boyfriend Taylor Lautner in 2010’s “Valentine’s Day,” but this would be her first major film role. Since she already has a Grammy, could an Oscar be in her future? (With Swift’s ability to win nearly every award she’s nominated for, it just might be a possibility.)
The Hudson Buzz can definitely see a resemblance between Swift and Mitchell (especially when Swift rocks the straightened hair, as seen above), but we’re much more keen on seeing Swift take on Mitchell’s classic tunes like “Woodstock,” written about the famous rock and roll festival that took place in the Ulster County town in 1969.
