Microsoft is pushing a new promotion that gives college students a free 4 GB Xbox 360 with the purchase of a new Windows 7 PC.

The laptop or desktop must cost at least $699 and students need to provide proof of their current enrollment.

Best Buy is the only brick and mortar store on Long Island participating in the promo. You just need is to show your student ID at the cash register during the purchase.

Students also have the option of buying online using their .edu email. Just go through the Bestbuy.com, dell.com, the Microsoftstore.com or hpdirect.com purchase process and use your school email address at checkout.

Microsoft said the deal will last until Sept. 10 or as long as supplies last, whatever that means.

The giveaway 4 GB 360 sells for $200, has Wi-Fi and is capable of playing Hulu and Netflix.

For students who aren’t into gaming, Microsoft is also pushing a 10% off a new PC purchase if you download the Microsoft Student app. But beware: You’ll be letting the Microsoft people get a hold of your Facebook profile and all the info it contains.
