Star Wars: Old Republic hits PCs Dec. 20
It's taken three years, but Star Wars: Old Republic finally has an official release date -- Dec. 20, 2011.
The subscription-based MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) promises to please the entire spectrum of gamers -- from the World of Warcraft guys, to the Star Wars fans, and traditional gamers (even those who are MMOG newbies).
The game is PC-only, and immerses players in a Star Wars story-based online world that takes place thousands of years before the rise of Darth Vader -- when war between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire divided the galaxy.
Players can choose to play on either side of the fight based on the role they want to take: Bounty Hunter, Sith Warrior, Imperial Agent, Sith Inquisitor, trooper, smuggler, Jedi Knight and Jedi Consular.
Each role has a unique story line and the decisions your character makes during the online gameplay defines their personal story and determines whether they're going down the path of the light or dark side of the Force. Each gamer’s choices have domino effects that reaches across the entire online Star Wars world. Gamers will be able to befriend online companions to fight at their side – which could eventually lead to betrayals and revenge wars.
The amount of detail BioWare has scripted for the story alone could keep you eyeballing over 100 hours of content when leveling up any class, with no two classes being anything alike.
