Torchlight comes to Xbox Live Arcade
If you're like me and love MMORPGs like World of Warcraft but just don’t have the time to contribute, you are in luck. Torchlight is a similar, play-at-your-own-pace, single-player game that can be compared to WOW. Runic Games developed Torchlight for the PC, but now console gamers can get in on the action.
Right from the start you’ll see a lot of nuances that make one think this is a carbon-copy of WOW, but it's not. Torchlight has its own achievements and play that is all its own, and it takes some of the best features from WOW. You’ll explore dungeons, get quests, increase your fame and outfit your character. You’ll have three character classes to choose from: Destroyer, Alchemist and Vanquisher, each with it own set of abilities.
But where Torchlight excels it also fails. With no multiplayer options and a limited gift function, players are hard-pressed to brag about achievements, grind dungeons together or show off sweet gear with Xbox Live pals. That said, Torchlight is a well-crafted game nonetheless that can help quench your long-lost love for World of Warcraft without sucking the life out of you.
Torchlight is a steal at 1,200 Microsoft Points.
