NY to investigate Time Warner outage
ALBANY - New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo says regulators will investigate what caused Time Warner Cable's nationwide Internet outage as the state reviews the company's merger with Comcast Corp.
Cuomo says Wednesday that dependable Internet service is "vital" and that providers have a responsibility to deliver reliable service. He says he has directed the state's Department of Public Service to review the outage as part of its examination of the merger.
New York-based Time Warner Cable says it's still looking into the cause of Wednesday's service outage, which sparked widespread complaints on social networks. The company has about 11.4 million high-speed data subscribers in 29 states.
