Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS3 (Orange) CNET rating: 3.5 stars

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS3 (Orange)

CNET rating: 3.5 stars out of 5 (Very Good)

The good: The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS3 is a fast-shooting, easy-to-use rugged compact camera with excellent features to justify its high price. The bad: The TS3's photos and movies look soft.

The cost: $299.00 - $399.99

The bottom line: GPS and fast shooting performance make the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS3 a worthy rugged point-and-shoot even if its photos and videos aren't the sharpest.

Unless you're already geotagging your photos--adding geographical identification metadata--you may not fully appreciate why it's worth doing. For everyday shooting, attaching information such as latitude and longitude coordinates and place names are probably not that exciting. But, if you do a lot of traveling, hiking, or other activity where you might want to remember where you were, then it's a great feature to have. We've rounded up cameras that handle all the location-tracking work for you. ©2014 CBS Interactive Inc., a CBS Company. All rights reserved. Used by permission
