TUESDAY: The U.S. Labor Department releases the job openings and labor turnover survey for January. Recent surveys have shown steady increases in available jobs. Also, the February small-business optimism index from the National Federation of Independent Business. Earnings: Barnes & Noble.

WEDNESDAY: Earnings from Long Beach international payments processor Planet Payment.

THURSDAY: The Commerce Department releases retail sales for February and business inventories for January. Also, two reports from the U.S. Labor Department: jobless benefits claims for the week ended March 7 and import and export prices for February. Earnings: Garden City kitchenware seller Lifetime Brands.

FRIDAY: Producer prices for February, the Labor Department's update on whether inflation is growing at the wholesale level. Also, the University of Michigan posts consumer sentiment for early March.
