KEY EVENT: Whole new ballgame. Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen heads to Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, where she will be the commencement speaker at New York University's graduation ceremony. She is expected to touch on subjects of great interest to new and recent grads: jobs and student debt.
MONDAY: Earnings from Campbell Soup and apparel retailer Urban Outfitters.
TUESDAY: The State Labor Department posts jobless rates in April for Nassau, Suffolk and Long Island as a whole. Long Island's unemployment rate in March was 5.7 percent, lowest for any March since 2008. Earnings: Home Depot, Intuit, Staples.
WEDNESDAY: The Federal Reserve releases the meeting minutes from its April conference. Earnings: Hewlett-Packard, Hormel Foods, home improvement retailer Lowe's, Target, Tiffany.
THURSDAY: Claims for jobless benefits for the week ended May 17 from the U.S. Labor Department. Also, the National Association of Realtors releases existing home sales for April. In March the sales price of an existing single-family home in the Northeast hit its highest level in seven months. Earnings: Best Buy, Dollar Tree, Gap, Ross Stores.
FRIDAY: New-home sales for April from the Commerce Department. Earnings: Foot Locker, sporting goods retailer Hibbett Sports.
