Long Island Data and Recovery Center, a Westbury-based info tech services provider, has been acquired by a German corporation.

The buyer, Ancotel GmbH of Frankfurt am Main, said the move will bring new jobs to Long Island.

Ancotel did not disclose how much it paid for the Long Island company, previously known as LIDARC — and now renamed ancotel USA.

Ancotel specializes in colocation Internet services, in which clients put their own computer servers in Ancotel’s racks. The clients control their own software and server hardware, and pay for bandwidth and security. LIDARC, at 1025 Old Country Road, has also specialized in colocation services.

Ancotel’s  Germany-based network of more than 300 international clients will provide “new business, networks and telecommunications opportunities to Long Island which in turn will bring jobs,” ancotel said.

“This facility, with planned upgrades, will attract new industries and provide a secure alternative meet-me-point for service providers and carriers that traditionally rely on Manhattan based facilities,” the German company said.

“In addition the location and proximity to major transatlantic submarine cables makes this Westbury facility an ideal key interconnection point between Europe and North America.”
