Resources for older workers abound in troubled market
The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry, and so it goes with retirement in 2009. The brutal stock market decline and frozen real estate market have wrecked the retirement plans of many Americans, who now find themselves back in the job market looking for ways to supplement their income. It's no easy task: The national unemployment rate was 7.2 percent in December, a 15-year high. The jobless rate among workers older than 65 was somewhat lower at 5.1 percent, but that number is higher than it has been in 31 years.
