That's because Fierstein, 48, of Woodbury, has been president-in-training for the past year, working on projects that will be carried forward during her official presidential tenure. You can't blame a decline in expected executive hiring in the area on the most recent tough economic times, says Steve Levy, principal of outside-the-box Consulting, a search and recruiting consulting firm based in Huntington. He says that for the past two years the New York metro region has dropped off the list of the top five projected growth regions for such hiring as determined by newly released research from ExecuNet, a Norwalk, Conn.-based networking and job-leads group for executives.
