"There are many things you can do to smooth the transition to a new school district ... I recommend calling the elementary, middle school or senior high school principal to schedule a tour of the school. As a PTA president, I recommend finding out who your local PTA president is and contacting them to ... volunteer. You may also want to schedule a meeting with your child's new teacher.
