Toyota's Yaris iA was named tops in the subcompact car category in Consumer Reports' rankings. With a price as tested of $17,560, it earned a road test score of 60, a better score for reliability, It gets 35 mpg.

The Chevrolet Cruze was Consumer Reports' top pick for a compact car, scoring a 77 on the road test and getting a better ranking for reliability. The Cruze test model's price was $23,145. It gets 30 mpg.

Toyota's Prius was ranked as the top compact hybrid by Consumer Reports, earning a 75 road-test score, and better ratings in both reliability and owner satisfaction. The test model Prius was priced at $27,323. It gets 52 mpg.

The Mazda MX-5 Miata scored an 80 on Consumer Reports' road-test scale, and was given a better score for owners satisfaction. The magazine's top pick for a sports car goes for $29,905, and gets 34 mpg.

The Kia Optima earned the title of Consumer Reports' top midsized sedan, scoring an 86 on the road-test portion, as well as better rankings in both reliability and consumer satisfaction. The test model tested was priced at $25,860. It gets 28 mpg.

The Chevrolet Impala scored 91 on Consumer Reports' road-test portion, and it was named the best large sedan by the publication. The price as tested was $39,110. It gets 22 mpg.

Subaru's Forester topped Consumer Reports' rankings for small sport utility vehicles, earning a 85 road score. The price of the model as tested was $27,145. It gets 26 mpg.

The Toyota Highlander earned an 84 road-test score, and was Consumer Reports' top pick for a midsize sport utility vehicle. The price as tested was $41,169. The SUV gets 20 mpg.

Audi's Q7 scored a 96 on the road-test scale, and earned a better ranking in both reliability and owner satisfaction. As tested, the luxury sport utility vehicle cost $68,695. It gets 20 mpg.

Honda's Ridgeline was the top pick for a compact pickup by Consumer Reports. It scored an 80 on the road-test scale and better owner satisfaction score. The price as tested for the Ridgeline was $36,480. It gets 20 mpg.
