Rick Carlisle was impressed with what he saw from the Knicks, and continues to be impressed with Jason Kidd.

After his Mavericks lost last night at The Garden, Carlisle said the Knicks look like a team that could contend for an NBA title.

“They are a very good team," Carlisle said. "In my opinion, they are one of a handful of teams in the East that has a chance to come out of the East.

"I like their talent, extremely well coached, and they have Jason Kidd. And Jason Kidd is going to bring everybody’s level of focus, concentration, intensity up an awful lot. That’s just how things work. He’ll have the broadcasters in a defensive stance, trust me on that.”

Kidd helped the Mavericks to the 2011 title and helped the Knicks to the win last night. He had a strong third quarter defensively and passing the ball, sparking the Knicks' run. They outscored Dallas 49-37 after halftime.

“It’s a amazing at his age that he can still put a stamp on the game," said Vince Carter, Kidd's teammate in Dallas and with the Nets. "I think he played a big part in the third quarter - getting them started, getting them back in transitions with steals and then getting easy baskets. Once that happened, they started to ignite.”
