A Mercedes topped rare Lamborghinis, classic Ferraris and Porsches, and even a 103-year-old working Buick on Long Island today. The 1957 300SL with gullwing doors was named Best in Show at the ninth annual Concours D'Elegance held Oct. 20, 2013 at the Americana Manhasset mall.

The event drew hundreds of cars -- ranging from the 1910 Buick (which did take home the award for Best Vintage Car) to a 2011 Aston Martin One-77 (one of just 77 produced and sold for $1.4 million) -- and thousands of onlookers to the high-end mall off Northern Boulevard in Manhasset. In fact, the interest was so great that dozens of Rolls-Royces, Bentleys, modern Italian sports cars and American classics could also be seen behind the mall, apparently brought by car enthusiasts whose vehicles were not entered into the actual show.

After spending the better part of the morning examining all of the cars registered for the show, the judges selected the 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL as the "Best in Show," and owners Nat Lanza and John Grillo were presented with Tiffany & Co. glassware by Wayne Carini, star of Velocity TV's "Chasing Classic Cars" program, as an award.

In all, 19 different awards were distributed for achievements including Best Early Porsche (a 1964 Porsche 356 Sunroof Coupe), Judge's Choice (a 1930 Chevrolet pickup) and Best British Sports Car (a 1972 Lotus Elan Sprint).

The car show also acted as a fund-raising event for Sunrise Day Camp in Wheatley Heights, which is dedicated to children with cancer. Attendees could purchase $250 raffle tickets for the opportunity to win a new Maserati Quattroporte.
