John R. Durso has been elected chairman of the board of directors for the United Way of Long Island. The Bellmore resident is president of Local 338 of the Retail, Wholesale, Department Store Union (RWDSU)/United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) since 1999, president of the Long Island Federation of Labor, the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), international vice president of the UFCW, international vice president of the RWDSU, and vice president of the New York City Central Labor Council.
