    Carol Gomes has been named chief operating officer of Stony Brook University Hospital. The Mount Sinai resident was serving as interim chief operating officer since October and before that served as director of operations.

    Mary Sue Schulz has been promoted to director of therapeutic recreation at St. Catherine of Siena Nursing & Rehabilitation Care Center in Smithtown. The Lake Ronkonkoma resident previously served as assistant director of therapeutic recreation.

    BOARDS & ASSOCIATIONS

    The United Cerebral Palsy Association of Greater Suffolk has announced the appointment of two new board members. Dan Barnes, of Kings Park, is recently retired from Estée Lauder Companies in Melville where he served as executive director of resource planning. Robert Bernard, of Commack, is senior vice president and relationship manager in Capital One's commercial real estate lending group in Melville.

    Lewis Johs Avallone Aviles welcomes six new attorneys to their Islandia office.

    Amy E. Bedell joins the firm as senior counsel. The Bellport Village resident, formerly in private practice in Bellport, will continue her practice in commercial litigation and appeals.

    Robert M. D'Angelillo, of Nesconset, joins as senior counsel in the trusts and estates and elder-law departments and will concentrate his practice in elder law and Medicaid planning. He was previously in private practice in Smithtown.

    Meaghan Dolce, of Manhattan, joins as an associate in the insurance litigation department. She is a recent graduate of the City University of New York School of Law.

    Robert Lifson joins the firm as of counsel and will handle appeals for the firm. He was a former justice of the New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division, Second Department, and lives in Huntington.

    Michael J. Murphy joins as an associate in the commercial/insurance litigation departments. The Plainview resident was previously an associate at Ruffo, Tabora, Mainello & McKay in Lake Success.

    Timothy P. Manning joins as an associate in the firm's insurance litigation department. He was previously an associate at Baxter Smith & Shapiro in Hicksville and lives in St. James.

    Irene Bass joins Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage's East Hills office as a licensed sales associate. The Jericho resident previously held a similar position at Automatic Real Estate Associates in Jericho.
