The Medical Society of the State of New York in Westbury has elected two new officers.

Dr. Charles Rothberg of Centerport has been named president-elect. He is chief of ophthalmology at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in Patchogue, where he previously served as president of the hospital medical staff.

Dr. Frank Dowling of Oakdale has been elected assistant treasurer. He is board certified in both psychiatry and addiction medicine and has an outpatient private practice in Garden City and Islandia. He also serves as medical adviser to the Police Organization Providing Peer Assistance, an independent, confidential, non-department voluntary assistance program for the NYPD.


Rory Manning of East Northport, Harborfields High School principal, has been appointed to the position of assistant superintendent for administration and human resources in the Harborfields Central School District, effective Aug. 1, 2016.

Danielle Turner of Sayville has been appointed director of health, physical education and athletics by the Port Jefferson UFSD board of education, effective July 1, 2016. She is currently assistant principal at North Country Road Middle School in the Miller Place school district.
